Sherborne homeowners enjoy stability and social aspect of our over-55s village
Avril, 75, and Barry Druce, 70, moved to an apartment in our Sherborne community off Horsecastles Lane after Avril suffered a stroke. It has led them to downsize from their house and move to an apartment where they don’t need to use stairs. They had previously lived in France for 20 years but returned to Dorset to be closer to their family, and looked for a place that would give them the opportunity to make friends, which they have found with Platinum Skies.

How to look after your mental health in retirement
Throughout our working lives, we spend a lot of time looking forward to retirement. We think about retirement as a stage in life that will give us more time to do the things we love, without the restrictions of day-to-day responsibilities. We create the perfect picture in our minds about what we would be doing and how we would fill up the time, but what people often don’t think about, is the mental health impact of retirement.

Sherborne homeowners love sense of belonging in retirement community
Don, 80, and Elizabeth Tomlinson, 78, purchased a house in the independent-living community, based off the A30 and Horsecastles Lane, to downsize from their large family home in Sherborne where they had lived for 45 years. They moved to one of our communities as they felt they were ‘rattling around’ in their last home and thought that the steep driveway could prove challenging in later years.
