First phase of luxury houses complete in Sherborne over-55s independent-living village Posted on March 23, 2021 (April 15, 2021) by Caitlin Marsh We are thrilled to reveal that construction work is complete on the first phase of houses in our new over 55s independent-living village in Sherborne. Homes exclusively for over 55s in Sherborne We are building a range of shared-ownership townhouses, semi-detached and detached two-bedroom and three-bedroom properties in Canon Woods Close at the top of Horsecastles Road and the A30, which is less than a mile away from Sherborne town centre. The first 15 houses, which have larger-than-average rooms with large windows to allow the natural light to flood in, fully-fitted kitchens, and individual gardens with a patio area, as well as parking, are now finished which enables the first homeowners to move in. In total, 37 houses will be built with the remainder being completed in phases to enable the Platinum Skies team to hand over the keys to the new owners as soon as possible, with all houses set to be finished by mid-June. Sherborne’s new over 55s village A host of 83 luxury apartments are also currently being built on the Sherborne site featuring a choice of one, two, and three bedrooms with a balcony or terrace, and undercroft parking. The apartment complex will also play host to communal facilities for the village’s homeowners to use including a TV lounge, residents’ lounge, bistro with a bar area, treatment room, and activity room. Work is due to be completed on the apartments in October. The luxury apartments and houses in Sherborne are made affordable as part of a government-backed shared ownership scheme delivered in partnership with Homes England. It enables buyers to purchase a property for typically 50% of the full property value, with prices in Sherborne starting from £247,500. Enhanced Covid-safe measures will be in place for the benefit of the residents, visitors, and our team at the open event, which requires prospective buyers to book in advance. Mike Lyons, managing director, said: “The new houses in Sherborne look great. It’s a proud moment when we can complete some new homes ready for their owners to move into so that they can start making memories for many years to come. As we come out of the lockdown restrictions, we’re seeing huge levels of pent-up demand in the homes that we’re building as people look to move to a property more suited to their needs.” All of our homes have a dedicated onsite Lifestyle Manager who helps to build a dynamic community amongst the homeowners and organise fun activities such as chocolate tasting workshops, cheese and wine evenings, themed bistro meals, yoga, quizzes, and crafts. The Lifestyle Managers also offer practical and emotional support to each of the residents. In May, work will start on the build of a new 24-room hotel, which will be based in the grounds of the independent-living village. The hotel will feature a dry spa, restaurant and bar area, meeting rooms, and conference room facilities, which will be open to the public.
